This was me at my strongest. I was deadlifting 145kg, 15kg short of my goal of deadlifting “the rainbow” (i.e. a green plate, yellow plate, red plate and blue plate).
However, the past few years, I’ve had many health issues that have prevented me from training – which has been hard physically and mentally. At the height of my health issues, l’d lost 50 lbs, which was most of my strength, and I was wrecked over it.
I’m finally getting to a spot where I can train and it doesn’t take me out for multiple weeks. Recently, I tried to see how much I could full clean and while it is nothing impressive, I felt really excited about it.
I am sharing this because I know what it is like to compete in Division 1 athletics and I know what it is like when the barbell alone feels heavy. Everyone has a story. Maybe even a similar story. It is hard to jump back into something after a long break or even know where to start. But your past does not need to dictate your future. There is not a best time to start or get back into it.
No matter what your journey is, I am here to help you find your strength.
